Information about the services on offer, including dates, times and venues of easy-to-acces, weekly drop-ins, where you meet people face to face are detailed below.

Benefit and Tax Credit entitlement questions:

The Income Generator team can help you look at what benefits and tax credits you may be entitled to, so you are not missing out on help available. Advice is free and
confidential.

  • Provide advice on all Welfare Benefits, Housing and Council Tax Benefit, Disabled Relief and Discounts.
  • Assist customers in claiming these benefits and reductions.
  • Money Made Clear service to help you manage your money.
  • Debt advice
  • Signpost you to specialist Welfare Rights officers who help you with specialist advice, for example, following bereavement or an illness diagnosis.

The team combines two parts of the council—the Revenues and Benefits section and
Newcastle Welfare Rights Service—to create recession busting support for anyone in the city.

 

Citizens Advice Bureau:

The Citizen’s Advice Bureau can give you specialist advice on dept, including ways to manage your debts, negotiate with creditors or  challenge debts where appropriate. They can also assist you with tribunals reviews and appeals. No selling, no Jargon, just the facts.

  • Cowgate Neighbourhood Centre, Houghton Avenue, NE5 2HY - Mondays and Fridays 10 am -2 pm
  • Blakelaw Communtiy Centre, Binswood Avenue, Blakelaw, NE5 3PN - Fridays 5 am - 7 pm, Saturdays 10 am - 12 noon

Credit Union—Moneywise Newcastle:
